Mike is doing well, every day he has physical therapy a couple of times and gets to talk to whomever makes it around to visit as well as Issac, Kate, and Julie who are with him nearly every day.
We listened to some Jack Johnson and chatted while I was in, watched a couple of movies...excerpts of most as there were more than a few of us there to see him this past few days. His wounds are progressing, it's a slow process as the body heals itself. He's lost 15 pounds or so and looks so thin, I haven't seen him like this since we lived in Phoenix 11 years ago.
He is, however, on solid foods again after almost four weeks. His first Whopper of the recovery was the other day and I swear the world stopped as we watched him eat it. "That was great", he said. "The best I've had in a long time."
Oh, the things I take for granted.
He'll lose his right finger tips... about a half an inch or so on each. He should be able to reach full functionality in his right hand as it is healing well and the tendons look good.
His right foot will take a couple or few weeks. Mike says they'll have to add blood vessels and veins to the area where the "muscle flap" surgery took place. That surgery took his left latissimus muscle and placed it on his schin and ankle to save his foot. A skin graft and other major surgery will take place on Tuesday or so.
Every day Mike's progress is going well and he is blessed that it is so. He is alive and looking forward to going home in a few weeks. He will to the hospital daily for wound care and physical therapy over the next few months. I'll let you know more as we do. Thank you for your love and support and your visits.
