Michael's last couple of days have been rough. While the healing is going well on his hands, and there was minimal amputation needed on his right fingertips, the muscle flap isn't going as well. The small muscle flap on the front of his ankle is dying. While there are a few options to help it reach its healing potential, this is a very big deal in itself. The extent of the burns have just damaged too much of the area (his right ankle area).
The final resort for the doctors is amputation, they are committed to saving his foot. Unfortunately, the possibility still remains and won't be ruled completely out for quite some time. The next option at this point will most likely be a wound vac, which will circulate nutrients to the area and help it heal better from the outside-in. If all goes well he will eventually have full mobility and functionality in it.
Your best thoughts and hopes are much needed over the upcoming days, this is a very crucial week for Michael.
Overall, Michael's progress is great, the skin grafts on the rest of his body are adhering themselves, good profusion they say. While the latest will delay his coming home, he'll be able to finally get outside for some fresh air soon, albeit in a wheelchair and continues his daily care.
As always, we thank you for your love and support, and especially your visits.
